Several Accidents Reported Due to Slippery Road Conditions Friday

The Logan County Sheriff’s Office responded to multiple accidents caused by icy and slippery road conditions on Friday.

The first incident occurred just after 4 AM when 34-year-old Jerrod Ellis of DeGraff lost control of his 2006 Honda CRV on Township Road 64, north of Township Road 295. Ellis’s vehicle veered off the left side of the road, hit a ditch, overturned, and ended up on its passenger side. Fortunately, Ellis was not injured.

Around 2 PM, Taylor Prince, 23, of Marysville, was traveling south on County Road 18 when they lost control of their 2012 silver Honda Accord. Prince’s vehicle left the road and struck a fence. Prince was cited for failure to control but reported no injuries.

At 3:30 PM, Aidden Manning, 18, of DeGraff lost control of his 2008 blue Dodge Charger while heading east on County Road 18. Manning’s vehicle veered off the road, struck a mailbox, and was later towed from the scene by Wrens Towing. Manning was also cited for failure to control.

Around 6:45 PM, 17-year-old Nathan Jones of Richwood was driving north on County Road 142 when he lost control on snowy roads and slid into a ditch, overturning his red 2005 Chevy Silverado onto its driver’s side. Jones was unharmed, and no citations were issued.

A little before 7 PM, 57-year-old Jacob Kotey of Columbus was driving a semi on US 33 when he lost control on the snow-covered road. Kotey’s trailer veered into oncoming traffic, forcing 67-year-old Douglas Bayliss of Bellefontaine to avoid the trailer and drive his 2017 white Honda Accord into the ditch. Kotey was cited for failure to control, but no injuries were reported. The semi was towed from the scene by Tops Towing.
