A DeGraff man was arrested late Thursday night after deputies found him intoxicated and sitting behind the wheel of a running vehicle in downtown DeGraff.
According to the Logan County Sheriff’s Office, deputies were called to Orphan Annie’s Ice Cream Shop after a caller reported a suspicious vehicle.
The caller told dispatchers a man was slumped over inside a vehicle that had been parked with its lights on for about 20 to 30 minutes.
When deputies arrived, they found 59-year-old Darren Stalling sitting in the driver’s seat of a running Nissan Altima.
Deputies reported that the driver’s door was partially open and that Stalling shut the door when he saw law enforcement arrive.
As deputies spoke with Stalling, they noticed several signs of impairment.
Stalling admitted he had been drinking and told deputies he had consumed alcohol at a friend’s house in Bellefontaine before continuing to drink at a DeGraff bar.
Deputies said Stalling initially refused to get out of the vehicle and later declined to perform field sobriety tests.
He was then placed under arrest.
During a search of the vehicle, deputies found an open and empty beer can underneath the front passenger seat.
Stalling was transported to the Logan County Jail, where he agreed to take a breath test.
According to the sheriff’s office, the test showed a blood alcohol concentration of 0.234, nearly three times Ohio’s legal limit of 0.08.
He was cited for physical control of a vehicle while under the influence and physical control of a vehicle while under the prohibited alcohol concentration limit.
He was also issued a summons for having an open container of alcohol in a motor vehicle.
Stalling has a prior OVI conviction from 2020.

Darren Stalling, 59, was arrested early Friday morning on an OVI-related charge.
According to the Logan County Jail Roster, Stalling was taken into custody by Logan County Sheriff’s deputies and booked into the Logan County Jail for having physical control of a vehicle while under the influence.
Because of the Juneteenth holiday office closures, additional information about the circumstances surrounding the arrest was not immediately available.
Further details are expected to be released when county offices reopen on Monday.
