The City Street Division is continuing efforts to collect and clear storm damage following yesterday’s weather event, with crews working in several areas affected by the storm.

Crews are currently working along S. Main Street, where flaggers are in place to help direct traffic around the ongoing cleanup operations. S. Main Street and several adjacent streets were heavily affected by the weather, and motorists traveling through the area are encouraged to allow extra time while crews and equipment are working.

A few streets remain closed because of downed trees. City crews will continue working in those areas as they remove storm debris and address the damage.

Residents are also being reminded of the city’s requirements for storm debris collection. Storm debris should be 4 feet or shorter and placed in a pile with the limbs facing in one direction. Debris piles should be positioned along the curb so crews can access them during cleanup.

Residents are asked not to block sidewalks or gutters with storm debris. Keeping those areas clear is especially important with more rain in the forecast.

The cleanup effort will continue as crews work through the areas affected by the storm. Drivers are encouraged to use caution around work zones, follow directions from flaggers and allow additional travel time when traveling on S. Main Street and nearby roads.
