Strategic Land Plan public meeting held

A handful of residents attended a public meeting in council chambers on Tuesday evening to discuss the city’s Strategic Land Use plan, drafted by Stewart Land Use and The Ohio Plan.

As previously reported on peakofohio.com, the city held the meeting to solicit public input on the plan, which has been in development for over 18 months.

Prior to the meeting, an open house was held from 3:00 PM to 6:00 PM, allowing residents to view the plan, review it, and ask pertinent questions of city officials and planning partners.

From the meeting press release: “The Strategic Land Use Plan is a guiding document—not a final set of decisions—intended to help the City plan responsibly for future growth. It reflects technical analysis, infrastructure capacity, and community input gathered throughout the process. Just as importantly, this stage of the process is about ensuring the plan aligns with the expectations and priorities of Bellefontaine residents.

“City officials emphasize that no final action has been taken, and public feedback at this stage will play an important role in shaping the final version of the plan.”

Some residents expressed their concerns about the plan, some citing a fear of “becoming like Marysville.”

The plan has yet to be approved by the council and will be discussed at future council meetings.
