Representatives of Support Our Veterans and the Veteran Little Home Project spoke to members of the Urbana Lions Club Wednesday afternoon, highlighting their mission to provide housing and support services for veterans in need.

During the presentation, organizers explained that the Veteran Little Home Project is working to build affordable, accessible homes for homeless veterans while connecting them with resources to help them regain stability and independence.

The organization also provides, or is developing, a variety of support programs, including mental health services, healthcare access, emergency relief, transportation assistance, youth and family activities, outdoor recreation, beekeeping opportunities, volunteer programs, and partnerships with churches and community organizations. In addition, veterans can receive furniture and other household essentials to help them transition into permanent housing.

Representatives said active home construction is already underway through partnerships with local businesses, volunteers, and community organizations. Future plans include community gathering spaces, recreational areas, and an outdoor stage designed to foster fellowship and support among veterans.

Bryant Bailey, a representative from Support Our Veterans, spoke to the club about the movement’s mission and what has already been in place as the nonprofit continues to grow.

Support Our Veterans said its mission is to honor those who have served by providing safe housing, comprehensive support services, and a strong community network. Organizers told the Lions Club their vision is a future where every veteran has a safe home, a sense of purpose, and the opportunity to thrive.
