Benjamin Logan Schools faculty and staff came together on Wednesday morning, energized and ready to embark on a new academic year after a well-deserved summer break. The event began with a hearty breakfast co-sponsored by Citizens Federal Savings and Loan Company. For the second consecutive year, Hal Epler from Chris Cakes of Columbus entertained everyone with his signature pancake-flipping skills, serving up hotcakes, sausage links, and scrambled eggs to fuel the day.

The morning continued in the high school auditorium with a vibrant performance by the Standing Ovation Show Choir. The choir created a memorable and engaging experience, captivating the audience with their “GO GO STANDING O” clap and chant, along with uplifting songs such as “Walking on Sunshine” that set a positive tone for the year ahead.

Superintendent John Scheu took the stage to share inspiring stories of loyalty, trust, and the profound human impact of education. He emphasized the importance of teamwork and reminded everyone of their shared mission: to make a difference in the lives of every student.

High School Principal Annette Alatorre, now in her second year with the district, introduced a new approach to staff introductions, emphasizing teamwork and community spirit. Enhancing the experience with carefully orchestrated lights and sounds, departments were called forward like teams at a sporting event, with staff high-fiving and cheering for each other as they made their way to the front. New teachers were introduced after recognizing the veteran team members, creating an inclusive and energetic start to the school year.

This dynamic start to the school year set the stage for a strong, connected, and enthusiastic Benjamin Logan Schools community, ready to embrace the challenges and opportunities of the upcoming academic year. The first day of school for students in grades 1 through 12 is Tuesday, September 3. Kindergarten students will start on staggered dates: Kindergarten girls will begin on Wednesday, September 4, and Kindergarten boys will start on Thursday, September 5. All students, including Kindergarten, will attend school together across the district starting Friday, September 6.
