Three-vehicle injury accident shut down 117 over the weekend

A three-vehicle injury accident shut down State Route 117, near Country Auto, in Huntsville Saturday afternoon around 3 o’clock.

The Logan County Sheriff’s Office reports Hunter Hein, 20, of Marion, was stopped at the stop sign on Township Road 100. Hein then pulled into the path of Doris Rench, 73, of Lakeview, who was traveling southbound on 117. Rench struck Hein.

The collision caused Rench to hit another vehicle operated by Kenneth Klass, 76, of Ottawa, who was stopped at the stop sign on State Route 366.

Hein suffered possible injuries. He was transported to Mary Rutan Hospital by BMRT EMS.

Rench and her passenger Paul Rench, 75, of Lakeview, suffered minor injuries. Doris was transported to Lima Memorial Hospital by Indian Lake EMS. Paul was also transported to Lima Memorial by Huntsville EMS.

Klass and his passenger, Linda Klass, 74, of Ottawa, were not injured.

Hein was charged with failure to yield.

Seat belts were worn by all who were involved.

Hein’s and Rench’s vehicles suffered heavy damage. Klass’s vehicle suffered minor damage.
