Tuesday, a Logan County Grand Jury indicted Holley Tolliver, 57, on multiple felony offenses from a course of conduct that concluded with an armed standoff on August 14 at his home (11331 Big Bear Path) in the Chippewa Park neighborhood north of Indian Lake. Multiple neighbors were evacuated for their safety as Tolliver fired numerous rounds at law enforcement whenever they approached the residence.

Tolliver was indicted on 16 counts each of attempted aggravated murder and felonious assault for allegedly firing weapons at 16 law enforcement officers who approached his residence during the incident. The officers were special response team members from the Logan County Sheriff’s Office, Bellefontaine Police Department, Marysville Police Department, and Ohio State Highway Patrol.

Thankfully no law enforcement officers were injured during the standoff, which concluded with Tolliver’s surrender after more than nine hours. Tolliver was treated at Miami Valley Hospital for gunshot wounds to his arm and nose before he was discharged to the Logan County Jail.

The confrontation began after deputies responded to a report from a neighbor on Big Bear Path that Tolliver had shot at the neighbor’s home twice. Tolliver was indicted on a total of five counts of discharging firearms into a habitation – one count for allegedly shooting twice into the same neighbor’s home, and four counts for other homes hit by rounds he allegedly fired during the incident.

Tolliver was also indicted on one count of burglary and one count of theft of firearms, for allegedly stealing dozens of guns from a neighbor’s home prior to the shooting. The stolen guns were recovered from Tolliver’s home after the standoff.

An investigation by the Ohio Bureau of Criminal Identification and Investigation remains open due to the officer involvement in the shooting.
