Troopers with the Ohio State Highway Patrol’s Springfield Post responded to two separate single-vehicle crashes Sunday afternoon in Champaign County, with two people transported to hospitals with minor injuries.
The first crash occurred at approximately 12:50 p.m. on Middle Urbana Road, north of Knight Road in Urbana Township.
According to the preliminary investigation, a 2006 Ford Fusion operated by Jazmine Corsbie, 23, of Urbana, was traveling south on Middle Urbana Road when it traveled off the left side of the roadway and struck an embankment and tree line.
Corsbie was transported by ground ambulance to Mercy Health – Urbana Hospital with minor injuries.
Troopers determined Corsbie was at fault and cited her for Failure to Maintain Reasonable Control of a Motor Vehicle.
Two passengers were in the vehicle at the time of the crash: Dominique Zigler, 23, of Urbana, and Jay Collins, 27, of Urbana. Neither passenger was injured.
About 40 minutes later, at approximately 1:33 p.m., troopers responded to another single-vehicle crash on State Route 55 just east of Vance Road in Mad River Township.
The preliminary investigation found that a 1989 Chevrolet van operated by Rebecca Bihn, 20, of DeGraff, was traveling southeast on State Route 55 when it drove off the left side of the roadway and struck a ditch.
Bihn, who was operating the vehicle as a United States Postal Service mail carrier, was transported by ground ambulance to Springfield Regional Medical Center with minor injuries.
The second crash remains under investigation by the Ohio State Highway Patrol’s Springfield Post.
Both crashes occurred Sunday, Aug. 9, in separate areas of Champaign County.
