The Urbana City Council met Tuesday night to authorize the purchase of a new hanger door on the north terminal hanger at Grimes Field for an amount not to exceed $30, 950.75, a charge to come from the Airport Fund and not the 2024 budget.
Airport Manager Drake Huffman says the replacement door is necessary to keep the airport functional.
Also during the meeting, the council approved a repaving project of State Route 55 from the western corporation limits to South Main Street.
Concerns were addressed on the current progress of the High Street maintenance project.
City Engineer, Tyler Bumbalough, was on hand and reported the project is moving along positively and, weather permitting, should be complete by the end of November.
Councilmembers also addressed a concern about an increase in powered bicycles being used on public sidewalks.
While there are ordinances in place forbidding such activities, the council recognizes the need to remind citizens of these ordinances.
