On Wednesday, the Urbana Lions Club held its weekly meeting and welcomed Chris Flowers, the Champaign County Business School Liaison, as a guest speaker.
Flowers provided an informative update about the Champaign County Advisory Council and its role in strengthening local education and business connections.
The Champaign County Business Advisory Council Council brings together leaders from the business, community, and education sectors to foster collaboration and trust.
Flowers talks more about her role and the Council:
According to Flowers, the council’s goal is to create strategies that enhance student learning experiences and better prepare students for future career opportunities.
While the council works closely with local schools, its efforts are not limited to the school year; it operates year-round to provide continuous support for both students and local businesses.
Flowers also highlighted several partnership opportunities available to local businesses, including job shadowing, job coaching, serving as guest speakers, mentoring, and offering workplace tours.
These initiatives allow business leaders to engage with students and contribute to workforce development directly.
The Urbana Lions Club members expressed their support for the council’s efforts.
