A 44-year-old Urbana man is facing multiple charges following two separate incidents reported in Urbana on September 14.
According to the Urbana Police Division, Trevor Fenwick was identified as the suspect in a reported theft at United Dairy Farmers on Miami Street around 8:30 p.m.
Police said a store manager reported that a man entered the store and allegedly stole two 24-ounce cans of beer, valued at approximately $6.41.
Officers later located Fenwick walking on North Main Street near Bloomfield Avenue. Police said Fenwick was carrying a backpack, which he allowed officers to search. Officers found two cold 24-ounce cans of beer inside — one Coors Light and one Modelo.
According to the report, Fenwick initially told officers he had gotten the beers earlier in Springfield. He later changed his story and admitted to stealing the cans from UDF.
Fenwick was charged with theft, a first-degree misdemeanor.
Police also investigated a separate incident at the Caring Kitchen on Miami Street. According to police, surveillance video showed a man urinating in the rear parking lot of the Caring Kitchen around 7:36 p.m. on September 14.
Police said the man also urinated on milk crates used by the organization to transport food. Investigators identified Fenwick as the suspect based on the surveillance footage and photographs taken following his arrest in the theft case.
Fenwick was charged with public indecency, a fourth-degree misdemeanor, and criminal mischief, a third-degree misdemeanor.
Fenwick entered not guilty pleas to the charges. A pretrial hearing is scheduled for October 5.
