Incoming West Liberty-Salem freshman Jackson Reichardt recently participated in CampMed at the University of Toledo, a program designed to introduce students entering ninth grade to careers in medicine and health sciences.

The two-day camp gives students a firsthand look at what it’s like to pursue a career in healthcare through hands-on learning experiences and interactive activities.

While attending CampMed, Reichardt participated in dissections and clinical laboratory exercises, stayed in a university residence hall, and experienced life on a college campus as a future pre-med student. The program allowed him to explore a variety of medical fields while learning from healthcare professionals and university educators.

CampMed is designed to spark interest in science and medicine at an early age, helping students explore potential career paths and gain valuable educational experiences.

West Liberty-Salem School officials praised Reichardt for taking advantage of the opportunity and for his dedication to exploring his interests in science and medicine. The district says it looks forward to following his future accomplishments as he continues his educational journey.
