The Bellefontaine High School Girls Bowling Team captured first place at the Kings Classic Tournament held Monday at TP Lanes, finishing ahead of 14 competing teams.
The tournament followed a format of three regular games, followed by baker games, with the team accumulating the most pins declared the winner. Bellefontaine’s girls team rolled impressive regular games of 882, 935, and 1005, totaling 2822 pins. This put them 143 pins ahead of the competition after the regular games.
In the baker games, Bellefontaine maintained their lead with scores of 213, 217, 199, 182, 149, and 198, for a total of 1158 pins. Their final pinfall for the day was 3980, securing the victory.
Top individual performances included:
- Haylee Yelton posted a 602 series with games of 178, 183, and 241.
- Gracie Hood, who also finished with a 602 series (194, 170, 238).
- Chloe Heminger, contributing a 551 series (183, 212, 156).
- Nevaeh LaFollette, who rolled a 546 series (171, 188, 192).
- Avery Mullins, with a 521 series (156, 187, 193).
Both Haylee Yelton and Gracie Hood were named to the All-Tournament Team for their outstanding performances.
The BHS Junior Varsity (JV) Girls Bowling Team also had a strong showing, finishing 7th overall. The JV team posted regular game scores of 859, 808, and 772, totaling 2439 pins. In the baker games, they scored 157, 150, 109, 149, and 124, finishing with a total score of 3299.
Notable individual performances for the JV team included:
- Isabelle Gunnett, with a 564 series (180, 186, 198).
- Addison Prosser, who rolled a 500 series (191, 168, 141).
- Kyrah Moon, with a 496 series (206, 146, 144).
- Sheby Hoffman contributed games of 139 and 158.
- Kinzie Bernard, with a 111 game.
The Benjamin Logan Varsity Lady Raiders Bowling Team finished 3rd in the tournament, rounding out a strong showing from local teams. Hunter McCulloch led the Raiders, earning 7th place on the All-Tournament Team with a 571 series (168, 201, 202). Aubrey Zedlitz rolled a 529 series (171, 155, 203), and Maddy Hamm posted a 511 series (181, 178, 152).
The Lady Raiders excelled in the baker games, posting scores of 165, 186, 176, 191, 227, and 161 for a total of 1106 pins, averaging 184 per baker game.
Other Top Teams:
Graham High School finished in second place with a score of 3867, while Jonathan Alder and Marysville rounded out the top five.
On the boys side of things, the Raiders placed first among 14 teams in the Kings Classic tournament.
The team shot conventional game scores of 1084, 1022, and 1056 then bowled 6 Baker games with scores of: 203, 165, 238, 205, 214, and 198, total pins 4365.
Wyatt Levan and Conner Chambers from the JV squad both contributed to the baker games to help with the win.
Leading the Raiders in the Conventional Games was:
- Jarrett Buckenroth – 253, 233 & 211 = 697 series which earned him 2nd place on the All-Tournament Team. Jarrett missed first place by 1 pin.
- Landon Stoodt – 244, 172 & 224 = 640 series.
- Dylan Stewart – 183, 220 & 215 = 618 series.
- Caleb Knight – 202, 198 & 215 = 614 series.
- Nate Davis – 202, 179 & 192 = 573 series.
The Raider teams return to CBC action on Thursday with an away match against Northwestern in Springfield at Victory Lanes.
