An outstanding student-athlete from Bellefontaine is taking her talents to the next level.
Bellefontaine High School outfielder Addison Wical has signed her letter of intent to continue her academic and softball career at Marietta College, an NCAA Division III program that competes in the Ohio Athletic Conference.
Wical was surrounded by family, teammates, and coaches during a signing ceremony held in the Sloan Distance Learning Center at BHS. She said the campus atmosphere and strength of the softball program helped make her decision.

A four-year contributor, Wical has built an impressive resume in the field. She holds several Bellefontaine softball records, including most doubles in a season (16), most doubles in a career (44), and most RBIs in a season (29). She also recorded her 100th career hit earlier this season, with these records still climbing as she plays out her senior season.
Wical earned Second-Team Central Buckeye Conference honors in both 2024 and 2025 and was named Academic All-Ohio in 2025. She has maintained a 4.0 grade point average while balancing academics and athletics.
She plans to study business at Marietta.
Wical said reaching this milestone brings a sense of relief after years of dedication.
“It feels great to finally sign,” she said. “It feels like there has been a weight lifted off my shoulders. College softball has been a goal of mine since I was 9 years old. My goal is to be a four-year contributor.”
She also credited her support system for helping her reach this point.
“My dad and grandpa have helped me ever since I was little, and all my softball coaches have helped me get ready for high-level softball,” Wical said.
Bellefontaine head coach Katie Buffkin praised Wical’s impact on the program.
“For the past four years, Addison has been a dedicated player, bringing a great deal of skill and ability to the team,” Buffkin said. “She has been a key driver of our offense and an integral part of our outfield.
“Addison has a true passion for the game and is a leader in helping younger players develop. I look forward to seeing what the future holds for her.”
Wical, the daughter of Erik and Melissa Wical, also considered Georgetown College and Wheaton College before choosing Marietta.
