Close Losses and Thrilling Victories Over Weekend

Saturday, the Indian Lake‘s varsity girls earned a thrilling 64-63 victory in overtime at Graham. After trailing 34-29 at halftime, the Lakers came back to tie the game 52-52 at the end of regulation. Carly Strayer hit the game-winning put-back just before time expired, finishing with 19 points and 7 rebounds. Kennedy Swaderer added 17 points and 7 rebounds. Indian Lake’s JV team also won, 24-19, with Terra Beltz leading the way with 17 points and 12 rebounds.

The Riverside Lady Pirates lost to Troy Christian in a varsity-only match, 48-40. Avery Perk led the team with 15 points, while Miah Carman and Aubree Huston each contributed 9 points. The loss brings the Lady Pirates’ record to 2-3 on the season and 0-2 in the TRC. Riverside will face Lehman Catholic next Thursday in another varsity-only contest.

The Ben Logan Lady Raiders traveled to Northwestern on Saturday for a CBC league matchup. The JV squad earned a dominant 32-16 win, with Aubrey Harris leading the scoring with 12 points. In the varsity game, the Lady Raiders fell in a close battle, losing 47-44 in the final seconds. Adilynne Gregg scored 14 points, and Kylie Harner added 11. Ben Logan’s varsity girls will play Kenton Ridge next Wednesday, with the JV game beginning at 6:00 p.m.

Triad hosted Fairbanks in a varsity-only game and lost 66-29. Abbey Overfield led Triad with 9 points, 4 rebounds, and 2 assists. Mia LeMay added 8 points and 10 rebounds. Triad’s varsity record now stands at 1-2 in the OHC and 2-3 overall. They will face Elgin on Monday in another varsity contest.

The Lady Chieftains traveled to Tri-Village for a non-league matchup on Saturday but came up short despite a strong second-half performance. Quinlan Zedeker led the team with a game-high 19 points and 4 assists. Gabbe Hoon added 9 points and 6 rebounds. Tiffany Boop and Emma Whitaker each scored 6 points. The Lady Chieftains will be back in action Monday night at home against London, with JV tipping off at 6:00 p.m. and varsity at 7:30 p.m.
