A familiar piece of Tiger Stadium history has officially been retired.
The longtime scoreboard that served as the backdrop for decades of athletic contests, championships, and memorable Friday night games was recently removed to make way for a new scoreboard installation.
Rather than being scrapped, the scoreboard will be preserved. Griffin Sports purchased the scoreboard back from the district and believes it may be the oldest operable Fair-Play scoreboard still in existence.
For generations of Tiger fans, athletes, coaches, and families, the scoreboard stood watch over countless victories, hard-fought contests, and community celebrations. Its retirement marks the end of an era while paving the way for the next chapter of Tiger athletics.
School officials expressed excitement about the future while recognizing the significance of the scoreboard’s place in the school’s history.
Special recognition was given to Dan Shover and the district maintenance crew for their work carefully disassembling and preserving the historic structure.
A new scoreboard is expected to be installed soon as Tiger Stadium continues to receive upgrades while honoring the traditions that have defined the program for generations.
