The Indian Lake Lakers won 9-3 over Shawnee on Tuesday evening.

The Lakers struck early in the first inning, with Madden Lillard tagging up to score and Lane Kipker knocking in another with a triple to center field.

Although an error at the bottom of the first allowed Shawnee to tie the game at 2-2, Indian Lake quickly regained control.

Cooper Hall tripled in the second inning to drive in a run, followed by a sacrifice fly from Lillard to put the Lakers ahead once again.

The offense stayed hot in the third with key hits from Kipker, Jackson Snipes, and Kolton Cummins, helping Indian Lake extend their lead.

Snipes also got the job done on the mound, allowing just three hits and two unearned runs over five innings while striking out eight.

Kolton Cummins came in for relief work. Offensively, Kipker led the team, going 2-for-4 with two RBIs.

Snipes matched him with two runs batted in, and the Lakers totaled nine hits and four stolen bases in the win.

Indian Lake turned a double play on defense and will host North Union on Wednesday.

The Riverside Pirates couldn’t hold off Covington on Tuesday night, falling 8-4 in a league matchup on the road.

All eight of Covington’s runs came in the bottom of the fifth inning, helped by two Riverside errors and a few costly mental miscues.

Brody Orsborne turned in a solid performance on the mound for Riverside, pitching 4 1/3 innings with seven strikeouts and only one earned run.

Offensively, Gavin Orsborne led the Pirates with two singles.

The loss drops Riverside to 4-7 overall and 1-4 in league play.
