For the first time since 2018, the Lady Chiefs of Bellefontaine High School got their first win in the postseason.

Bellefontaine beat the Tecumseh Arrows on their own turf Monday night in the first round of the OHSAA DII sectional soccer tournament, 2-1.

Parker Penhorwood would score first for the Chiefs when the ball came free off the goalkeeper for Tecumseh.

The game was tied 1-1 at the half.

Callie Shumaker scored the go-ahead goal in the second half.

The Chiefs were able to fend off the Arrows in the second half and keep them from putting the ball in the back of the net.

This was the work of the defense and goalkeeper Lexi Robinson, who had an amazing game with 17 saves.

“This is a Bellefontaine team that plays with a total of 14 players, and some girls do not exit the game for rest, and each player should be applauded for this,” said coach Shumaker.
