Several area middle school volleyball teams were in action Tuesday, with Bellefontaine’s seventh-grade squad picking up a hard-fought victory over North Union while the eighth-grade Chiefs and Riverside competed in losses.
7th Grade — Bellefontaine 2, North Union 1
The Bellefontaine seventh grade volleyball team battled through three close sets to defeat North Union 27-25, 19-25, 25-23, improving to 11-1 on the season.
Bexley Daring led the Chiefs with 27 digs, two kills and five aces, while Devyn Hogan finished with 11 kills, nine digs, one block, four assists and an ace.
Emma Layman added five kills, seven digs, 15 assists and an ace. Miley McKirahan had two kills and three digs, while Brooklyn Mosley recorded a kill, two digs and two aces.
Addy Harden finished with a kill, a dig and an ace, while Eliza Blinn had two digs and Lariah Valencia added three digs.
8th Grade — North Union 2, Bellefontaine 1
The Bellefontaine eighth grade Lady Chieftains battled hard but came up short against North Union in three sets, 18-25, 25-17, 12-25.
Arianna Rumer led the Chiefs with 16 digs, three kills, three aces and six assists. Skylar Phan added 13 digs, three kills, one assist and three aces.
Evie Schmidt recorded eight digs, one kill, four assists and an ace, while Braelynn Neer finished with five digs, two kills, one block, one assist and two aces.
Alivia Rogan added six digs, two kills and an ace.
The Chiefs are now 9-3 on the season.
7th Grade — Indian Lake 2, Riverside 0
Riverside’s seventh grade squad fell to Indian Lake in two sets, 13-25, 18-25.
Kylie Godshall led Riverside with five points and three aces. Addyson Manning had two points, while Stella Shultz recorded one point and an ace.
Scarlett Lentz, April Tryloff and Brayla Olinger each added one point.
8th Grade — Indian Lake 2, Riverside 0
The Riverside eighth grade team fell to Indian Lake 7-25, 10-25.
Avery Wheeler led Riverside with two points and an ace, while Brylee Shephard added one point and Kinsley Crawford recorded one kill.
Riverside returns to action Thursday at Milton Union.
