West Liberty-Salem Hosts OHC Track Preview


The West Liberty-Salem girls track and field hosted the Ohio Heritage Conference Preview Monday with the Tigers winning the meet.

Team Scores:  1st WLS 150, 2nd Mechanicsburg 83.5, 3rd Triad 83, 4th (tie) Cedarville and Greenview 74, 6th Fairbanks 66, 7th Northeastern 41, 8th Southeastern 35, 9th Madison Plains 17.5, 10th Springfield Central Catholic 16, 11th (tie) West Jefferson and Greenon 9

Senior Sophia Hardwick led the Tigers with first-place finishes in discus (101’0), 300 Meter Hurdles 49.17 and took 2nd in the 100 Meter Hurdles (16.82).  Other first-place finishers for WLS included Elise Longshore in the pole vault (9’0), Delaney Jones 100 Meter Dash 12.36 and the 4×200 Relay team of Sophia Hardwick, Hattie Jacobs, Gwen McCullough, and Mallory Bostick (1:54.18).

Tiger Placers 2nd-8th:

  • Second Place-Tori Douthwaite pole vault (8’6), Malia Miller 3200 Meter Run 12:25.8 and the 4×800 Relay team of Lily Smith, Mariska Smith, Mylee Dooley and Taylor Kennedy (11:29.87).
  • Third Place-Isabella Hardwick discus (99’07), Claire Longshore 100 Meter Hurdles (17.03), Malia Miller 1600 Meter Run (5:36.73), Gwen McCullough 400 Meter Dash (1:05.7) and 200 Meter Dash (28.57), and Addie McAuley 800 Meter Run (2:35)
  • Fourth Place-Mallory Bostick 200 Meter Dash (28.58) and Lyndee Harrison shot put (29’03.5)
  • Fifth Place-Tori Douthwaite 100 Meter Dash 13.53, Mallory Bostick 400 Meter Run (1:06.72) and Hattie Jacobs 300 Meter Hurdles (53.04)
  • Sixth Place-Taylor Kennedy 3200 Meter Run (13:47.26)
  • Seventh Place-Claire Longshore high jump (4’06)
  • Eighth Place-4×100 Relay team of Lexi Hausler, Elise Longshore, Bella Hughes, and Celia Marin (1:00.98)

“We were excited to open up the outdoor season and I’m proud of the way our athletes competed,” said WLS head coach Ann Vogel.  “We had some outstanding early season performances.”

West Liberty-Salem will compete at the Miami East Invitational on Thursday.


The West Liberty-Salem boys track team competed at the OHC Preview meet on Monday evening.

The team finished 5th out of 12 teams.
