A grain cart loaded with corn overturned Thursday afternoon on Bellefontaine’s north side, spilling its contents across the roadway and sidewalk.
According to the Bellefontaine Police Department, the incident happened just before 4:00 p.m. on North Madriver Street near East Watson Way.
Police say a 2018 Chevrolet Silverado, driven by Dale Stanley, 94, of Belle Center, was pulling two grain carts loaded with corn when the front axle on the second grain cart failed.
The left front wheel buckled, causing the grain cart to tip onto its side and dump corn onto the street and sidewalk.
No one was injured, and no citations were issued.
Top’s Towing assisted with the cleanup, while traffic was diverted around the area until the scene was cleared.

A corn spill temporarily shut down a portion of Madriver Street in Bellefontaine Thursday afternoon.
The spill occurred between Columbus Avenue and Sandusky Avenue.
Based on the scene, it appeared a tire failure on a hopper wagon caused a load of corn to spill across the roadway.
Top’s Towing assisted at the scene with the cleanup efforts, and traffic was diverted around the area.
No injuries were reported.
