Bellefontaine Joint Recreation District Director Rick Reed addressed members of the Bellefontaine Rotary Club during its weekly meeting Monday afternoon, providing an update on local parks, recreation programs, and ongoing improvement projects.
Reed, who took over as recreation director in February, said he has quickly become involved in several projects throughout the city.
He told Rotarians he is passionate about Bellefontaine and its recreational opportunities, noting that he lives in the city and has children who participate in many of the programs.
Among the topics Reed discussed were construction progress at Harmon Field and the new Hoffman Pool, as well as his day-to-day responsibilities overseeing the recreation district.
He also highlighted the Myeerah Nature Preserve and its role in the community, stating that while it is not his area of expertise, he leans heavily on those who have that knowledge.
Reed said youth programs remain a top priority, noting that the baseball and softball season is winding down after another busy summer.
He also reported that the Fridays in the Parks program has been a success this year and is nearing its conclusion, with just two sessions remaining.
