Sunday afternoon, the Ohio State Fair’s 2024 Sale of Champions showcased exceptional livestock and dairy products, with impressive bids reflecting strong community support.
The event featured standout performances from young exhibitors across various categories.
Essie McGuire of Champaign County captured attention with the Reserve Grand Champion Market Beef, which was purchased for a notable $22,000.
The beef was acquired by a consortium including OKI, Inc., NetSteady, Expo Services, Standard Parking, Schmidt’s Sausage Haus, and the Ohio Quarter Horse Association.
Kole Bishop, also from Champaign County, exhibited the Reserve Grand Champion Market Barrow, which fetched an impressive $35,000.
This high bid came from The Kroger Company, Bob Evans Farms, and the Ohio Farm Bureau Federation.
The Grand Champion Market Lamb was presented by Ava Shroyer of Logan County and sold for $13,000.
The winning bid was placed by The Kroger Company, the Ohio Harness Horseman’s Association, and the Ohio Farm Bureau Federation.
In the dairy category, the Grand Champion Swiss Cheese, produced by Pearl Valley Cheese of Fresno, was purchased for $32,500 by A.G. Boogher & Son, Inc., and the American Dairy Association Mideast.
This cheese represented the top dairy champions and supreme dairy showmen.
