Bellefontaine residents will head to the polls this year to elect new city leaders, including positions for City Treasurer, City Council President, and several City Council member seats.

Many candidates have already filed their intentions, with the filing deadline for unaffiliated candidates approaching.

Key City Council Races

The race for City Council President is uncontested as Republican Zeb Wagner currently serves in the position and is seeking re-election.

In the City Council-at-Large race, four candidates are vying for the three positions. Jenna James, Kyle Springs, and Wes Easton are all Republican candidates, while Tim Steinhelfer, is a Democratic candidate.

Voters will not get to select the three until November.

Ward-specific Races

The ward races will also be closely contested.

In the 1st Ward, both Devin Palmer and Silas Augsburger, both Republicans, will compete for the position, with Sarah Lewis, a Democrat, also joining the race.

Voters will select one Republican in the Primary in May, then that candidate will run against Lewis in November.

The 2nd Ward seat is uncontested by Republican Jordan Reser.

For the 3rd Ward, Nick Davis, a Republican, looks set to continue representing his district.

Meanwhile, in the 4th Ward, incumbent MacKenzie Myers Fitzpatrick (a Democrat) faces competition from Mick Lile (Republican), signaling a potential shift in leadership for this district.

This race will be voted on in November.

City Treasurer Race

No candidates have yet filed for the position of City Treasurer.

Unaffiliated candidates have until May 5, 2025, to file their candidacy, opening the door for potential late entries into the race.

Primary elections are set for May 6th.

Stay tuned for further updates as more candidates potentially file for open positions in the coming months.
