A 35-year-old Bellefontaine man was arrested for OVI after police say he was driving without headlights and taillights, speeding, and crossing the center line.

According to a Bellefontaine Police report, the traffic stop happened around 11:15 p.m. Wednesday near East Columbus Avenue.

Police say Justin Goodman was driving a gray Honda when an officer noticed the vehicle did not have its headlights or taillights on.

The officer also reported seeing Goodman make an improper turn, speed above the 25-mile-per-hour limit, and fail to come to a complete stop at a red light.

The officer later said he had to drive more than 50 miles per hour to catch up to the vehicle.

Police also noticed the Honda cross the double yellow line before turning into the Logan County Historical Society parking lot, where the traffic stop was made.

Police say Goodman showed signs of impairment and admitted to drinking a few shots.

An empty liquor bottle and unopened beers were found in the back seat.

Goodman also showed several signs of impairment during field sobriety testing, according to police.

He was arrested for OVI and later refused a breath test.

Police say Goodman has previous OVI convictions from 2018 and 2021, making this his third OVI offense within 10 years.

He was released to a sober driver and is scheduled to appear in Bellefontaine Municipal Court next week.
