A Bellefontaine woman is facing charges after an early Monday morning traffic stop in Urbana.
According to Champaign County Municipal Court records, Makayla Burrows, 26, was charged with operating a vehicle while under the influence of alcohol (OVI) and a 12-point suspension violation.
The traffic stop happened around 1:50 a.m. after a vehicle was seen dragging large corn stalks through the city. The report also states the vehicle was traveling well below the speed limit and signaled turns without turning.
Court records state Burrows showed signs of impairment, including bloodshot, glossy eyes and the odor of an alcoholic beverage. She told authorities she had consumed one alcoholic drink earlier in the evening.
According to the report, Burrows showed multiple clues of impairment during standardized field sobriety tests and declined a portable breath test at the scene.
After her arrest, Burrows submitted to a breath test, which recorded a blood-alcohol concentration of 0.167, more than twice Ohio’s legal limit.
Burrows is scheduled to appear in Champaign County Municipal Court at 9 a.m. Thursday, July 16.
