Bomb threat made on Bellefontaine bus

Tuesday afternoon, shortly after 3 PM, Bellefontaine Police were called to the area of the Bellefontaine City Wastewater Treatment Plant on South Troy Road due to a bomb threat aboard a Bellefontaine City School bus.

It was reported that a male student claimed that he had a bomb on his person. 

The bus was evacuated and the suspect, identified as Kehgan Basso, 14, was taken into custody.

The evacuated students were quickly placed on another bus and transported from the scene

The Columbus (Ohio) Bomb Squad was called to the scene and found that there was no active threat.

Troy Road was closed, for a short time while officers dealt with the situation.

Basso was transported to and lodged in the Central Ohio Youth Center in Marysville for criminal charges related to the incident.

In a statement by Bellefontaine City Schools, ” While the district cannot comment on matters involving student discipline, members of our school community can rest assured that we handle these serious matters in accordance with board policy and student handbook guidelines.”
