Wednesday two men were found dead in a home in Mechanicsburg.
The Champaign County 911 Center received a call from a property owner at 7310 East State Route 29, who said when she entered the home she found the men, whom she allowed to live in the home, possibly deceased, under suspicious circumstances.
Sheriff’s Deputies and Detectives were immediately dispatched to the scene, as well as Mechanicsburg EMS.
It was confirmed that the two men had passed away before their arrival.
Wayne Smoot, 74, and Lundy Travis, 68, have been identified as the two men.
The Champaign County Coroner’s Office confirms both men died as a result of gunshot wounds.
There was no evidence of a break in and it appears there was a dispute between the two men inside.
This incident remains under investigation by the Champaign County Sheriff’s Office, Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation (BCI), and the Champaign County Coroner’s Office.
