Early Monday morning, Bellefontaine Police Officers responded to a fire reported at an unknown location.

They then saw flames coming from a home on Heritage Drive.

Officers forced their way into the front door and found no one inside.

A neighbor told them that the house had been vacant for years.

The Bellefontaine Fire Department arrived on the scene and shut down Heritage Drive.

Officers were called back to the scene later in the morning because firefighters reported that someone ran over the fire hose.

The driver, later identified as Tava Levan-Thompson, 20 of Bellefontaine, told officers that her windshield was frosted over and that she was in a hurry.

Officers explained to her that it was dangerous to be driving in those conditions as she could have easily struck a firefighter.

She was cited for Driving Over a Fire Hose.
