A Belle Center man is facing charges after deputies responded to several complaints early Friday morning.
According to reports from the Logan County Sheriff’s Office, deputies were called to a home on East Buckeye Street shortly after midnight for a noise complaint.
The caller said a man was throwing items into a fire, causing them to explode, and was yelling and throwing things into the road.
Deputies found 22-year-old Tyler Ridenour in the backyard.
They saw a fire pit that was still burning and loud heavy metal music playing from a speaker.
Ridenour admitted he had been putting aerosol items into the fire, causing them to explode.
He said he may have been loud while singing along with the music but denied screaming or throwing anything into the road.
He agreed to stop putting items into the fire and turn down the music.
Ridenour told deputies several times that he was drunk and admitted to drinking alcohol and using marijuana.
Deputies noticed that Ridenour’s knuckles were bleeding and had fresh injuries.
He said he had been punching a punching bag in the garage.
Blood was also found on his sweatpants.
Ridenour told deputies he had been arguing with a family member.
The family member told deputies the argument started after Ridenour was told he needed to move out.
The family member said the argument was only verbal and there were no threats or physical contact.
Before leaving, deputies warned Ridenour that if they received another complaint, he could be charged with persistent disorderly conduct.
A short time later, deputies were called back after another report of Ridenour yelling and breaking things in the garage.
While deputies were still at the home, they received a 911 call from a nearby resident who reported that a man had tried to get into their home and then ran away.
Deputies went to the neighboring residence and found a smashed screen door, broken glass and damage to the siding.
A large rock and a damaged tiki torch were also found nearby.
Deputies said the tiki torch belonged to Ridenour’s residence.
The neighbor told deputies they had been asleep when they heard a loud crash.
They looked outside and saw a man running away toward Ridenour’s home.
Deputies then arrested Ridenour.
During the trip to the Logan County Jail, deputies said Ridenour became disruptive.
They reported that he yelled, spit and repeatedly hit his head against the divider inside the cruiser, causing a head injury.
Jail staff later placed him in a restraint chair.
Ridenour was lodged in the Logan County Jail on charges of criminal damaging, a second-degree misdemeanor, and persistent disorderly conduct, a fourth-degree misdemeanor.
