Ohio Governor Mike DeWine has declared a state of emergency in 19 Ohio counties impacted by recent severe weather and flooding.
DeWine signed the proclamation Tuesday afternoon after meeting with local officials, first responders and residents in Vinton County, which experienced significant flooding.
The counties included in the declaration are:
- Athens
- Clermont
- Gallia
- Greene
- Highland
- Jackson
- Logan
- Meigs
- Mercer
- Montgomery
- Morgan
- Muskingum
- Perry
- Pickaway
- Pike
- Preble
- Ross
- Van Wert
- Vinton
The proclamation directs state departments and agencies to provide services, equipment, supplies, and personnel as needed to assist with cleanup and recovery efforts.
“We’ve seen significant flooding and damage across several Ohio counties,” DeWine said. “The state is working closely with local officials to provide the resources needed to help communities respond and recover.”
The Ohio Department of Transportation and Ohio State Highway Patrol will continue assisting local authorities.
The Ohio Emergency Management Agency will also remain engaged with county and state partners during the recovery effort.
