A traffic stop in Bellefontaine Monday evening led to a juvenile citation and the towing of a vehicle.
According to Bellefontaine Police, the stop happened around 6:40 p.m. on U.S. 33.
An officer was watching westbound traffic when he noticed a silver Cadillac with dark window tint and an expired temporary tag.
After the officer pulled behind the Cadillac, police said the driver, Aiden Skaggs, 16, of Zanesfield, moved to the back seat while passenger Ryan Saunders, 19, of Bellefontaine, moved into the driver’s seat.
Skaggs initially denied driving but later admitted he switched seats because he did not have a driver’s license and did not want to go back to jail.
Police determined the vehicle’s temporary registration had expired in August, and neither Skaggs nor Saunders had a valid driver’s license.
The vehicle was towed from the scene.
Skaggs was issued a traffic citation for not having an operator’s license, and the case was forwarded to the Logan County Juvenile Prosecutor’s Office.
