While En Gedi Ridge Zoo has been welcoming visitors for some time, the attraction is now making it official.

The Logan County Chamber of Commerce hosted a ribbon-cutting ceremony Wednesday at the zoo, located at 8684 U.S. Route 68 near Rushsylvania, officially welcoming the business to the community.

Owned and operated by veterinarian Dr. Trent Reynolds and his wife, Krista, En Gedi Ridge Zoo offers visitors the opportunity to get up close with a variety of animals through guided encounters and educational experiences in a peaceful, family-friendly setting.

The couple talks about the zoo and their favorites and future:

The name “En Gedi” comes from an oasis in Israel known for its natural beauty and biblical significance, reflecting the owners’ vision of creating a place where families can connect with nature, learn about wildlife, and enjoy the outdoors together.

Last school year, Tony Tambaro, a Benjamin Logan High School sophomore, drew and painted the En Gedi Ridge Zoo mural as part of a Tourism Grant from the Logan County Visitors Bureau Council.

The project was done under the direction of Jennifer Davis—LoCo Art Co-Director and visual art teacher at Benjamin Logan High School.

Unlike larger zoos, En Gedi Ridge Zoo focuses on small-group experiences, allowing guests to interact with many of the animals, learn about their care, and gain a greater appreciation for wildlife.

Reservations are required for most visits, and the zoo also offers special public open hours and private tours throughout the season.

The zoo’s mission is to help families “learn, explore, and appreciate God’s creation” through educational animal encounters and outdoor experiences.

More information about hours, tours, and reservations is available on the En Gedi Ridge Zoo website and Facebook page.
