On Thursday, Judge Kevin P. Braig of the Logan County Court of Common Pleas sentenced Timothy Emerson to six to nine years in prison after his convictions for felonious assault and domestic violence. The charges stemmed from an incident on June 9, 2024, in which Emerson, under the influence of alcohol, became violent and assaulted a minor victim.

Court testimony revealed that Emerson struck the victim and threw her through a door. As a result, the victim suffered a broken jaw and other injuries, which required three surgeries. She told the court that her injuries continue to cause significant pain and suffering.

The victim and her family requested a maximum prison sentence of eight to twelve years. Emerson, who had no prior felony convictions, had only been convicted of a misdemeanor in Indiana.

Logan County Assistant Prosecutor Nathan Yohey represented the State of Ohio, while Emerson’s defense was handled by attorney Jim Gudgel of Sidney, Ohio.
