A 17-year-old Bellefontaine High School student was arrested Monday after allegedly sending threatening text messages to another student and admitting to striking her during an earlier confrontation.

According to a report from the Bellefontaine Police Department, officers were contacted by Bellefontaine High School staff on Monday regarding threatening messages sent to a female student by Bryce Corbett.

School officials said Corbett allegedly texted the student that he was going to “kill her” and told her to “enjoy your last day.”

Prior to officers arriving at the school, staff reportedly forwarded the messages to police.

Investigators also noted the female student had made statements accusing Corbett of assaulting her.

Police met with the student at the high school, where she stated the issues between the two began several weeks earlier.

The student alleged that Corbett came to her home at the end of last week and slapped her approximately 10 times before punching her with a closed fist about five times.

She also told officers she received text messages from Corbett that morning, threatening to kill her.

Police later interviewed Corbett at the school.

According to the report, Corbett admitted to sending the threatening text message and acknowledged slapping the student, though he claimed she had asked him to do so.

Investigators also spoke with the student’s father, who said he reviewed home surveillance video from May 8th and saw Corbett slapping his daughter.

Corbett was arrested without incident on charges of assault and aggravated menacing. He was transported to the Central Ohio Youth Center in Marysville.
