A 44-year-old Bellefontaine man was arrested Friday night after police say he was driving under suspension and showed multiple signs of intoxication during a traffic stop.
According to the Bellefontaine Police Department, officers spotted a light blue Chevy SUV around 9:30 p.m. on North Madriver Street.
Police initiated a traffic stop after learning that the registered owner had a suspended driver’s license.
Officers identified the driver as Eric Beltran, 44, of Bellefontaine.
Police say Beltran immediately showed several signs of impairment.
According to the report, Beltran admitted he had been drinking and told officers he was “just going to get Burger King.”
Police also learned Beltran’s driver’s license was suspended for multiple violations, including prior OVI-related suspensions connected to convictions in 2022 and 2024.
Beltran then failed field sobriety tests and was arrested and charged with operating a vehicle under the influence and driving under OVI suspension.
At the police department, Beltran refused to provide breath and urine samples after being advised of the penalties connected to a refusal due to prior OVI convictions.
Beltran was later lodged in the Logan County Jail.
