Local Wreaths Across America volunteers are working hard to ensure that all veterans laid to rest at Bellefontaine City Cemetery are honored this December as part of National Wreaths Across America Day – Saturday, December 14, 2024.
In preparation for this annual event, Wreaths Across Logan County is starting a Flag-a-Friend Fundraiser beginning this weekend to raise awareness and sponsorships to honor every veteran laid to rest at Bellefontaine City Cemetery.
For the cost of one wreath sponsorship, the volunteers with Wreaths Across Logan County will decorate your, a neighbor’s, or a friend’s yard with dozens of 4-inch x 6-inch American flags for a weekend to spread some patriotic spirit throughout our community. To sign up for the fundraiser, please contact Adam Brannon by email anytime at [email protected], or by phone after 4:30 p.m. at (937) 844-0724.
“Every $17 sponsorship made is a meaningful gift from a grateful American who knows what it means to serve and sacrifice for the freedoms we all enjoy,” said Karen Worcester, executive director of Wreaths Across America. “We are so grateful to the good people of this wonderful community for participating in our mission to Remember, Honor, and Teach.”
Last year, ceremonies were held across the country at more than 4,200 participating locations, placing more than 3 million wreaths for interred veterans. This year Wreaths Across America Day will be held on Saturday, December 14, 2024.
The goal: to place a live, balsam fir veteran’s wreath at the headstone of every American veteran to Remember their sacrifice, Honor their service, and Teach the next generation about the value of freedom.
