If you happened to pass by the high school the past few weekends, you may have noticed some Indian Lake and Bellefontaine buses out practicing on a maneuverability course or making student pick-ups and drop-offs.

These drivers were preparing for the annual School Bus Road-E-O event.

Indian Lake will be hosting the West Region competition on Saturday.

They expect to have about 60 competing drivers from the 12-county region on-site.

In this friendly competition, a driver can score up to 750 points in total.

The top nine drivers in each of Ohio’s eight regions move on to the state-level competition in May.

Events include a written test on federal and state rules and regulations for pupil transportation and a comprehensive vehicle inspection where drivers must find five safety defects rigged on buses.

A hands-on driving skills course comes next, ending with a post-trip vehicle inspection.

Drivers competing on behalf of Indian Lake are Becky Babb, Sue Ball, Amber King, Sandy Knotts, Amy Stevens, and Sandy Stultz.

The entire north portion of the ILS campus, including the high school, will be closed to anyone not affiliated with or observing the regional Roadeo.

Athletic events will arrive and depart from the middle school on this date.
