The Ohio State Highway Patrol has released limited details about the cause of Saturday’s crash on U.S. Route 68.
A 43-year-old Findlay man was riding a Honda Gold Wing south on U.S. Route 68 when the motorcycle’s rear tire blew out, causing it to fishtail and the driver to lose control.
The man and his 12-year-old son were ejected from the motorcycle.
Both suffered road rash to their backs, shoulders, and lower extremities.
The father and son were wearing helmets.
The boy’s injuries were more serious, and MedFlight was called.
The father was treated at the scene but declined transport to a hospital.
No other vehicles were involved in the crash.
Troopers cited the driver for operating an unsafe vehicle after determining a worn rear tire caused the blowout.
