Bellefontaine Police K9 Pyro helped uncover suspected crack cocaine and fentanyl during a traffic stop late Saturday night.
At about 11:30 p.m., officers stopped a white BMW SUV near North Main Street and High Avenue after seeing the driver fail to use a turn signal and make an improper turn into the center lane.
The driver was identified as 44-year-old Andrew Turner of Kenton.
During the stop, officers say Turner appeared nervous and had dilated pupils.
Police also recognized him from a previous traffic stop involving suspected narcotics.
Turner denied having anything illegal in the vehicle and refused permission for officers to search it.
K9 Pyro was then deployed to conduct a drug sniff around the BMW.
Pyro alerted to the odor of narcotics near the driver’s door.
Officers searched the vehicle and found a knotted bag containing suspected crack cocaine inside the center console.
They also found a green tube with brown residue and another crack pipe inside a black bag on the rear seat.
Turner was arrested after the suspected cocaine was found.
Police say he admitted to having a crack pipe in his pocket and said he used it to smoke crack cocaine.
Officers also found a cigarette pack with a folded receipt containing a loose substance.
Turner reportedly told officers the substance was crack cocaine that he forgot about.
The suspected cocaine found in the vehicle field-tested positive for crack cocaine.
The substance found with the receipt field-tested positive for fentanyl.
Turner was taken to the Logan County Jail on charges of possession of drugs and drug paraphernalia.
