A 45-year-old Kenton man was arrested for operating a vehicle under the influence following a traffic stop Sunday evening in downtown Bellefontaine.
Officers were patrolling South Main Street near Washington Avenue around 6:30 p.m. when a black Ford Fusion was seen speeding and stopping beyond marked stop bars at multiple intersections.
Officers paced the vehicle traveling 42 miles per hour in a 35-mile-per-hour zone and later 35 miles per hour in a posted 25-mile-per-hour zone.
The driver, identified as Ronald Griffith, showed several signs of intoxication.
Griffith told officers he had smoked marijuana a few hours earlier and said he smokes daily.
He then failed several field sobriety tests.
Griffith was arrested for OVI.
During a search of the vehicle, officers found several marijuana roaches, two empty suspected THC cartridges, a suspected THC vape device, and a partially smoked marijuana joint.
Griffith provided a breath sample that registered 0.065 grams of alcohol per 210 liters of breath.
A urine sample was also collected and sent to the Ohio State Highway Patrol Crime Lab for testing.
A drug recognition expert with the Bellefontaine Police Department also evaluated Griffith.
Griffith was issued citations for OVI and speed and is scheduled to appear in Bellefontaine Municipal Court.
