A 66-year-old Lakeview man was arrested and had his driver’s license suspended after refusing a breath test during an OVI investigation Saturday night.

Logan County Sheriff’s Deputies stopped a black pickup truck around 11:30 p.m. Saturday on State Route 235 near State Route 117.

The driver turned from Township Road 293 onto State Route 235 without using a turn signal, and it had a broken passenger-side taillight.

Gerald Hines showed several signs of intoxication and said he had been drinking at Acheson’s and Froggy’s earlier that evening.

Hines then failed field sobriety tests, was arrested, and taken to the Logan County Jail, where he refused to take a breath test.

He also has a prior OVI conviction in Illinois in 2010.

Hines was later released to a sober driver after being cited for operating a vehicle under the influence, refusing a breath test with a prior OVI conviction, and failing to use a turn signal.
