A representative with Open Road Renewals gave information packets to members of the Lakeview Council in their meeting Monday night. Open Roads Vice President Doug Herling said his goal was to provide information for the solar project which is currently being proposed to the State of Ohio. Herling noted that the company is not planning on installing any solar panels within the limits of the village, focusing instead on areas south and east of the village.

Several council members asked questions of Herling, including the possible environmental impact of displaced or damaged panels and how the panels would impact the land. Herling stated that Open Road Renewals has provided a bond to the state of Ohio that would cover the cost of remediating the land after the 40-year project concludes.

Among the information provided to the council was an estimate of the possible long-term revenue for local entities. The project could bring in as much as $200 million over 40 years. This figure includes annual payments of $2.4 million to the Indian Lake schools, $625,000 to the townships, and $100,000 to the village of Lakeview.

Herling directed people to the Open Road Renewals website for more information.

Village Administrator Dave Scott updated the council on projects he anticipates for 2025. He hopes to present the list of projects to the council early next year. He also said he heard from the Lakeview Soccer Association, who requested to build a new shed at the complex. The association, Scott said, would fund the shed themselves.

Council member Sandy Knott announced the Christmas light contest. She said four residences and four businesses submitted their information to be considered in the contest.
