Lakeview Village Administrator Dave Scott asked the village council to consider making changes to parking on West Lake Avenue, especially during the spring and summer ball seasons, during their council meeting Monday night. Scott, who reminded the council that changes to parking on the thoroughfare have already been approved, suggested adding signage restricting parking in each direction from the entrance to Lakeview Park.

The council approved installing the signage, saying that they will consider making additional changes once the ball seasons get going.

In other council action, Washington Township Officer Travis Davidson informed the council that the department assisted the Logan County Drug Task Force, where a large quantity of methamphetamine was seized from a house in the village.

Zoning Officer Gary Bias said he responded to 85 calls in April and issued several permits, including a new house permit on Poplar Court. He also said he attended training sponsored by the Logan-Union-Champaign Regional Planning Commission (LUC) and that he will begin working on recommended changes to the current zoning ordinances.

Village Administrator Scott also informed the council that changes to the village’s current cybersecurity programs are needed to comply with Ohio House Bill 96, which went into effect in September of 2025. The legislation, which is codified in Ohio Revised Code Section 9.64, mandates that political subdivisions implement cybersecurity programs to safeguard their infrastructure.

Scott informed the council that the cybersecurity measures must be in place by July 1 of this year. He asked the council to authorize up to $1200 per month for cybersecurity measures. The council approved the expenditure.

In the legislative portion of the meeting, two ordinances and one resolution were adopted:

  • 2026-06 – An ordinance authorizing the Village Fiscal Officer to create and utilize a Midway OWDA Grant Fund in the village.
  • 2026-08 – An ordinance authorizing and directing the Village Administrator and Fiscal Officer to execute a lease agreement with Community Storage & Properties, Ltd. for the purpose of temporary housing of village operations.
  • 2026-07 – A resolution to enact a 12-month moratorium on the receipt, processing, issuance, or approval of data centers.

The next meeting of the Lakeview Village Council will be on June 1, 2026, at 6:00 PM at the Lakeview Fire Department.
