On Tuesday, Deputies from the Logan County Sheriff’s Office saw a vehicle traveling on State Route 235 without a rear license plate.

When they initiated a traffic stop a temporary tag was seen in the rear window of the SUV.

The driver, Jonathon Hofferbert, 46 of Lima, seemed overly nervous to deputies.

They learned that Hofferbert did not have a valid driver’s license and he couldn’t locate registration or insurance information for the SUV.

He then exited the vehicle to attempt to locate the requested documents for the deputy.

When asked if a K9 would alert to any drugs inside the vehicle, Hofferbert said that there was a crack pipe inside.

The pipe was located by deputies and contained a chore boy and residue.

Russells Point Police assisted on the scene and field-tested the pipe.

The residue tested to be methamphetamine.

Deputies also found a prescription bottle, containing different pills, that did not belong to Hofferbert.

He was arrested and lodged in the Logan County Jail on charges of possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia.
