A Bellefontaine man was arrested late Wednesday night after police say he repeatedly threatened to kill a woman, her significant other, and law enforcement officers during a series of phone calls.

According to a Bellefontaine Police Department report, officers were dispatched to the police department around 11:20 p.m. to meet with a victim who reported receiving threatening phone calls from 30-year-old William Jarman.

While officers were speaking with the victim, Jarman reportedly called multiple times and made numerous threats.

Police say Jarman repeatedly threatened to kill the victim, shoot her significant other, and harm police officers who had previously responded to his residence.

According to the report, Jarman claimed he was outside the victim’s residence and told the victim he was armed with a firearm.

He also allegedly threatened to shoot up the residence and kill anyone who confronted him.

The victim told officers she feared Jarman would damage property at the home or carry out his threats.

Police noted that Jarman’s speech was heavily slurred during the calls, and he indicated he had been kicked out of a bar earlier in the evening.

Officers responded to the area of the victim’s residence and began searching for Jarman.

He was eventually located approximately 200 yards away from the home.

Police said Jarman was confrontational and agitated when officers attempted to take him into custody.

Officers reported that he repeatedly failed to follow commands, lowered his hands despite repeated warnings, and resisted efforts to handcuff him.

Police also stated he attempted to kick officers while they were trying to secure him.

After a brief struggle, officers were able to handcuff Jarman and place him in a cruiser.

While being transported to the Logan County Jail, police say Jarman admitted to looking into and attempting to enter vehicles in the area where he was found.

Jarman was booked into the Logan County Jail on charges of aggravated menacing, resisting arrest, and public intoxication.
