Local Education Academy students earn Paraprofessional Certification

Submitted by Kelsey Webb

Six Ohio Hi-Point Education Academy seniors recently earned their Paraprofessional Certification, taking the next milestone step to becoming future educators.

Shyayne Eaton (West Liberty-Salem), Hannah Turner (West Liberty-Salem), Sariah Miller (Benjamin Logan), Emily Alig (Indian Lake), Aliya McCary (Bellefontaine), and Jack Buckalew (Urbana) successfully earned their Paraprofessional Certification in March at the Madison-Champaign Educational Service Center. Eaton earned a perfect 480/480 – the first in the ESC’s history – and Buckalew scored a 479/480.

“I’m excited that all my seniors passed,” said Education Academy Instructor Angie Walls. “I’m looking forward to watching them grow as teachers and educators.”

The students can now assist elementary through high school students in math, reading, and writing. Once students graduate, they can work within the schools and become licensed through the Ohio Department of Education.

This is great! I wish was that easy for me at 58 years old to do this for free . Education cost so much or have paid every thing back
