In a heartwarming display of community spirit, the Indian Lake Lakers and Benjamin Logan Raiders joined forces for the first official local Pink Out football game since the COVID-19 pandemic.
Held at Laker Stadium last Friday, the event aimed to raise awareness and funds for cancer support in Logan County.
Representatives from the Logan County Cancer Society and its parent organization, the Mary Rutan Foundation, were present to answer questions and distribute pink ribbons.
Their mission focuses on providing financial assistance to residents battling cancer while promoting education on detection and treatment.
The event was a vibrant spectacle, with cheerleading squads leading the charge as both student sections donned pink attire.
Laker football players sported pink armbands, while Raiders wore pink socks.
The marching bands also participated, showcasing pink gloves, hats, and special decorations on their instruments.
Thanks to t-shirt sales, sponsorships, a bake sale organized by ILHS cheerleaders and the student council, and generous donations during the game, the event raised approximately $5,520 for the Logan County Cancer Society.
Tammy Gump, Chief Operating Officer of the Cancer Society, expressed gratitude for the contribution, noting it will help cover essential expenses for cancer patients, including medications, travel costs, and emergency needs like food and clothing.
Kudos to the Lakers and Raiders for their outstanding effort in supporting a vital cause!
