Local Students Vie for 2024 Logan County Fair Royalty

The Logan County Fair is set for July 7th through the 13th and several local students are running for fair royalty.

The contest will be held on Sunday, July 7th at 5:15 p.m. in the Show Arena at the Logan County Fairgrounds.

The lone 2024 King Applicant is Peyton Henry of West Liberty. He is a part of the Liberty Livestock 4-H Club and Benjamin Logan FFA. Peyton is the son of Jerrod and Emily Henry and is a recent graduate of Benjamin Logan High School. He is a 10-year 4-H member, Logan County Junior Fair Board member, and shows dairy beef feeders, dairy heifers, and dairy cows. Peyton states, “I believe I would be the best candidate for the Logan County Fair King because I love the fair, and I want to carry on the tradition of the great 4-H program in Logan County.”

The 2024 Queen Applicants include:

  • Eva Carney of Lakeview. She is a member of the Indian Lake/ OHP FFA. Eva is the daughter of Clifford Southard and Elizabeth Carney. She is a recent graduate of Indian Lake High School. Eva is the Logan County Junior Fair Board Vice President and has worked in the dairy booth, pork and lamb booth, announced shows, recorded show results, and shows market chickens. Eva states, “I want to represent Logan County as a strong and confident leader. I love conversing with everyone and being able to share about things I’m passionate about. When I was little, the queen was always someone I looked up to and I want to be a positive role model not only for the youth but Logan County as a whole.”

  • Addison Huffman of West Mansfield is a member of the Benjamin Logan FFA. Addison is the daughter of Andy and Kristie Huffman. She recently completed her junior year at Benjamin Logan High School. Addison is the Logan County Junior Fair Board President and shows market turkeys. Addison states, “I believe I am a good candidate for the Logan County Fair Queen because I love taking on responsibility and working towards goals and helping people. I have previously taken on other leadership roles, so I am comfortable and confident speaking to people as well as representing an organization. I’m always willing to try something new. I am raising turkeys for the first time this year, while also serving as Logan County Junior Fair Board and Benjamin Logan FFA President. This has helped guide me to this opportunity and I would love to share my pathway!”

  • Summer Litteral of West Mansfield is a member of Mix and Match 4-H Club and Benjamin Logan FFA. Summer is the daughter of Kyle Litteral and Stormy Stanley. She recently completed her
    sophomore year at Benjamin Logan High School. Summer is a Logan County Junior Fair Board member and shows market lambs. Summer states, “Going into my third year of showing market
    lambs and entering my second year of Junior Fair Board, I’ve been able to learn different skills and quite a bit about myself. During my time of showing lambs, it taught me responsibility and
    helped me form a good work ethic.”

2024 Princess Applicants:

  • Courtney Altstaetter of Bellefontaine is a member of Cool Clovers 4-H Club and Indian Lake OHP FFA. Courtney is the daughter of Phil and Brandy Altstaetter. She recently completed her freshman year at Indian Lake High School. Courtney shows market and breeding goats, dairy heifers, dairy cows, helps in the dairy booth, and helps in the beef booth. Courtney states, “I believe I am the best candidate for the 2024 Logan County Princess because I have great communication skills and can maintain confidence and poise while talking to anyone. Also, I love interacting and getting to know new people. This position allows me to interact and learn more about people from different county fairs and Logan County.”

  • Brianna Blair of Rushsylvania is a member of Premier Livestock 4-H Club. Brianna is the daughter of Brandon and Jennifer Blair. She recently completed her eighth-grade year at West Liberty Salem. Brianna is a Logan County Junior Fair Board member and shows market sheep. Brianna states, “I believe I am the best candidate for the 2024 Logan County Fair Princess because I am a very well-mannered kid. I love meeting new people and I am a very hard worker. I believe I am a very happy-spirited person and I am always smiling to bring a good
    day to others.”

  • Lottie Bodin of Bellefontaine is a member of the Master Mix 4-H Club. Lottie is the daughter of John and Colleen Bodin. She recently completed her eighth-grade year at Benjamin Logan Middle School. Lottie shows market chickens and has a beekeeping and food and nutrition project this year. Lottie states, “There are so many wonderful candidates for fair royalty this year. I believe I am the best candidate because I have been in 4-H since I was a Cloverbud. I look forward to each spring when I dive deep into working on my 4-H projects and each summer because it is fair season. I really enjoy seeing everyone else’s projects, sharing my hard work, and of course, the Hawaiian shaved ice. I watched my sister run for fair princess and I loved the idea of a chance to have my voice heard.”

  • Brylee Buyer of Lewistown is a member of Premier Livestock 4-H Club. Brylee is the daughter of Ashley Roseburrough. She recently completed her eighth-grade year at Indian Lake Middle School. Brylee shows dairy beef feeders, was a dairy ambassador, and has worked in the dairy trailer. Brylee states, “I believe that I would be the best candidate for the 2024 Fair Princess because I am a great role model for the younger age groups that look up to their old generation. I love to spread agriculture throughout Logan County. I am friendly, kind, and an athletic person. I always have a positive mindset and attitude in whatever I am doing or whatever sport I am involved in. I am always a person that you can come to for anything.”

  • McKenzie Forsythe of Rushsylvania is a member of the Master Mix 4-H Club. McKenzie is the daughter of Jerry and Christie Forsythe. She recently completed her eighth-grade year at Benjamin Logan Middle School. McKenzie has shown market hogs for six years, market sheep for one year, and breeding sheep for one year. McKenzie states, “I believe I am the best candidate choice for the 2024 Logan County Fair Princess because I am a hard worker. I have been involved with the fair for six years, and I would love to represent the Logan County Fair as princess. I love meeting new people and being able to show them around our fair, and being able to tell others about our fair.”

  • Alivia James of West Mansfield is a member of the Premier Livestock 4-H Club. Alivia is the daughter of Justin and Lora James. She recently completed her seventh-grade year at Benjamin Logan Middle School. Alivia shows beef feeders, turkeys, and goats. Alivia states, “I believe I am the best candidate because I help out with fair. For example, last year I was the 2023 Junior Goat Ambassador. I believe I am an amazing role model for younger 4-H and Cloverbud members. My confidence has grown since I started to show livestock five years ago. I believe my public speaking skills have improved.”

  • Halie Johnson of Bellefontaine is a member of the Logan County Livestock 4-H Club. Halie is the daughter of Ollin Johnson and Serena Huffman. She recently completed her sixth-grade year at Bellefontaine Middle School. Halie shows market barrows, market gilts, and participates in showmanship. Halie states, “My family has a long history with the Logan County Fair. My grandma was Beef Queen in the late 60’s. I would like to represent my family at the 2024 Logan County Fair by running for princess.”

2024 Cloverbud Royalty Includes:

  • Maverick Cooksey of East Liberty is a member of the Friendly Farming 4-Hers. Maverick is the son of Dwayne and Ashley Cooksey. He just completed 1st grade at Calvary Christian. Maverick enjoys swimming, playing outside, golfing, playing the Xbox, and playing with his brother’s steers. He enjoys being a Cloverbud because he is able to participate in 4-H. As a Cloverbud Royalty member, Maverick plans to bring smiles to others and be friendly.
  • Cohen Elliott of West Mansfield is a member of the Premier Livestock. Cohen is the son of Mat and Emily Elliott. He just completed 2nd grade at Benjamin Logan Elementary. Cohen enjoys baseball, swimming, drawing, and farming with his dad. He enjoys being a Cloverbud because he gets to learn new things about the fair and showing animals. As a Cloverbud Royalty member, Cohen looks forward to talking about the fun things at the fair and getting to hand out awards to the winners.
  • Harper McClintick of DeGraff is a member of the Riverside Hustlers. Harper is the daughter of Brad and Brittney McClintick. She just completed 2nd grade at Riverside. Harper enjoys swimming, softball, and cheerleading. She enjoys being a Cloverbud because she gets to see her friends and it is preparing her to be a 4-H member. As a Cloverbud Royalty member, Harper looks forward to meeting new people and making new friends.
  • Sophia McClintick of Cable is a member of the Riverside Hustlers. Sophia is the daughter of Daric McClintick and Shannon McClintick. She just completed Kindergarten at West Liberty Salem. Sophia enjoys showing goats at jackpot shows, cheerleading, spending time with family, and drawing. She enjoys being a Cloverbud because she gets to attend the 4-H meetings like her big brother and sisters. As a Cloverbud Royalty member, Sophia wants to be a princess to represent Logan County just like her sisters did.
  • Nash Pugh of West Mansfield is a member of the Premier Livestock. Nash is the son of Cody Pugh and Whitney Renkert. He just completed Kindergarten at Benjamin Logan Elementary. Nash enjoys riding horses with his Papaw Mike and pouring concrete with his dad. He enjoys being a Cloverbud because he likes to help people. As a Cloverbud Royalty member, Nash looks forward to helping others, especially the sheep and goats.
  • Finley Saylor of Belle Center is a member of the Premier Livestock. Finley is the daughter of Steve and Kaleigh Saylor. She just completed Kindergarten at Benjamin Logan Elementary. Finley enjoys playing Barbie’s, t-ball, soccer, and cheering. She enjoys being a Cloverbud because she likes to say the Pledge of Allegiance, 4-H Pledge, and learn about animals with her sister. As a Cloverbud Royalty member, Finley is looking forward to being a part of the Logan County Fair.
